Debunkr Terms of Service

DRAFT. This document is a starting point for legal review and not a substitute for professional legal advice. Before launching Debunkr publicly we are obtaining attorney review of these Terms.

1. Acceptance

By installing or using Debunkr (the “Service”), you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. The Service is informational, not advice

Debunkr estimates the credibility of news articles using automated AI scoring, hand-curated publisher datasets, and external fact-check APIs. The ratings, verdicts, and reasoning displayed in Debunkr are informational only. They are not professional journalism, legal, medical, financial, political, or fact-checking advice.

A high score does not mean an article is true. A low score does not mean an article is false. You should not make decisions of consequence (votes, investments, medical choices, etc.) based solely on a Debunkr rating. Always verify independently.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 17 years old, or have permission from a parent or legal guardian, to use Debunkr. The Service is not directed at children under 13. You must comply with all applicable laws in your jurisdiction when using the Service.

4. What you can submit

You may submit any publicly accessible web URL of a news article, blog post, or comparable web page that you have the right to view.

You may not submit:

• URLs that require login, paid subscription, or other access barriers that you have circumvented
• URLs containing sexually explicit material involving minors, instructions for violence, malware, or other illegal content
• URLs to harass, defame, or “dox” specific individuals
• Excessive automated requests intended to overwhelm the Service (rate limits apply per device and IP)

We may at our sole discretion block URLs, IPs, or device identifiers that violate these rules.

5. Your content (feedback)

When you submit a “Helpful” or “Not helpful” vote, with or without an optional comment, you grant Four-Color AI LLC a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to use, store, analyze, and incorporate your feedback into improvements to the Service. Feedback comments are not publicly displayed.

Do not submit personal data, hate speech, threats, or content you would not want analyzed.

6. Our content

The Service’s interface, code, datasets, prompts, scoring algorithms, brand marks, and explanations are © 2026 Four-Color AI LLC. You may not reproduce, redistribute, modify, or reverse engineer the Service except as permitted by applicable law.

Open-source dependencies are governed by their respective licenses.

7. Third-party content

Articles you submit and content returned by third-party APIs (fact-check matches, Wikipedia summaries, etc.) remain the property of their respective owners. Debunkr displays excerpts solely for informational purposes under fair use principles.

8. AI-generated content

Significant portions of Debunkr’s output are produced by large language models (currently Anthropic’s Claude). These models can produce factually incorrect or misleading output. They can hallucinate citations or reasoning. We mitigate this with anti-hallucination gates and require citation URLs to come from real search results, but errors are still possible.

You acknowledge and accept this risk. Do not rely on Debunkr output as the sole basis for any consequential decision.

9. Costs and rate limits

Debunkr is currently free to use. We enforce per-device and per-IP daily rate limits to manage cost and prevent abuse:

• 20 standard checks per device per day
• 3 Deep Analysis checks per device per day

These limits may change without notice. We may also temporarily suspend the Service if our monthly AI usage budget is exhausted.

10. No warranty

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure, or that ratings will be accurate or up to date.

11. Limitation of liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, FOUR-COLOR AI LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUES, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

OUR AGGREGATE LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF (A) THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE 12 MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM (CURRENTLY $0) OR (B) USD $100.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or limitation of liability for certain damages, so the above may not apply to you in full.

12. Indemnification

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Four-Color AI LLC from any claim, liability, damage, or expense (including reasonable attorneys’ fees) arising from your use of the Service, your submitted content, or your violation of these Terms.

13. Termination

You may stop using the Service at any time by deleting the app from your device. We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms.

14. Changes to the Service

We may add, modify, or remove features of the Service at any time, including scoring algorithms, datasets, and Deep Analysis behavior. We will publish material changes in the app or on this page.

15. Changes to these Terms

We may revise these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent version. Material changes take effect 14 days after posting; your continued use after that date constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

16. Governing law and disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware (the state of incorporation of Four-Color AI LLC), without regard to conflict of law principles.

Any dispute arising out of or related to these Terms or the Service will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

17. Disclaimer regarding politics, defamation, and reputation

Debunkr rates publishers and articles. Ratings are computed automatically and reflect the rating system’s design, not the personal opinion of Four-Color AI LLC or its employees.

If you are a publisher or individual mentioned in an article we rated and you believe a rating is defamatory, factually incorrect about your publication, or harmful, please contact us. We will review the rating in good faith. We are not journalists, are not engaged in news reporting, and do not assert factual claims about identified individuals or publications.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in full effect.
